World Cup 2010 craze

The Boulevard Hotel at Mid Valley Megamall has joined in the World Cup 2010 craze with promotions and special discounts throughout the duration of the event.

Football fans will be able to catch all matches live on high-definition TVs at the terrace section of Wild Rice restaurant on level 9.

The restaurant is festooned with World Cup memorabilia, including the flags of all 32 participating countries to create an exciting football atmosphere.

A replica of the World Cup trophy is placed at the buffet counter as the centrepiece.

A World Cup menu features seven delicious snacks and dishes like gourmet sausages and pies.

Food and beverage manager Kenneth Dharshan recommends Spanish Way, a dish of lamb and beef marguez (sausages) served on a bed of lettuce.

"The sausages are spicy and will go nicely with a cold mug of beer. These quick bites are ideal for the games," he said.

Dharshan said those who enjoyed pies should try the South African Twist or Brazilian Sensation.

"The South African Twist is a steak-and-pepper pie served with mashed potatoes and sauteed mixed vegetables. For those who want a bit of adventure, try the Brazilian Sensation - a minced beef pie served with jacket potato," he said.

Apart from the great food and drinks, guests can participate in the restaurant´s World Cup contest.

Guests who spend RM60 in a single receipt will receive a prediction slip. The person who correctly guesses the winner of the World Cup will win a bottle of champagne and two nights´ stay at Pangkor Beach Resort.

The restaurant is also giving away free World Cup souvenirs and holding mock football matches. A referee is present to give out red and yellow cards, which are redeemable for discounts on food and beverage during the live telecasts.
